How to Apply for a Grant from the McKeen Fund

Before you apply for funding, be sure you are familiar with our guidelines and those whom we fund.

Electronic submissions are not accepted at this time.

Application Period

The McKeen Fund accepts proposals throughout the calendar year.

Information to Collect for Application

As you can see by looking at the sample application, you will need to have the following information:
  • the amount you are requesting
  • the purpose of the grant
  • discussion of how your project meets the Fund's guidelines
  • if the grant is a discrete component of a larger project, please provide a brief description of the larger project
  • commencement and completion dates for your project
  • source and amount of funds, pledges and cash available for this project
  • percentage of your fundraising expenses to the amount of overall contributions

The application will be an Adobe PDF file which is an online fillable form. Please fill in the form using the free Adobe Reader or a paid upgrade such as Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro (you can print the form when you are done but cannot save it with just Adobe Reader). This means you will have just the space you see on the sample to submit your responses to our questions, so spend some time formulating those responses.

When you complete the application, you will need to print and send 2 copies to us.

In addition, you will need to send the following supporting documentation with the application - one copy each of:
  • your organization's latest financial statements as certified by your auditors
  • a specific budget for your project
  • an annual report of a brief description of your organization

Furthermore, if you support another organization, for example a hospital supported by a Foundation applicant, you will also need to supply certified financial statements, project budget and annual report / brief description for that organization as well. In addition, the supporting organization must be a Type I, Type II, or functionally integrated Type III supporting organization. Foundation applicants must represent only a single institution.

As we are sure you understand, due to the volume of requests we receive, our policy is not to acknowledge receipt of materials or return them.
